Sylvester Stallone shares first look at Jason Statham in The Expendables 4: ‘It’s really not that exciting’

Expendables 4 filming is underway, and Sylvester Stallone has behind-the-scenes photos.

Two months after announcing a new cast member, Stallone reconnected with Expendables star Jason Statham, telling fans they’re having a “great” time on production.

Sly posted two Instagram photographs of him and Jason enjoying a break from filming, clearly delighted to be back in his Barney Ross garb. “Having a great time at work with my great friend Jason on the new EXPENDABLES!!!” he said.

I pray Jason doesn’t have another near-death experience.

Since the third Expendables film was released in 2014, the fourth has been a long time coming.

Stallone announced his return as elite mercenary Ross in 2018 after pulling out of another sequel. Dolph Lundgren and Randy Couture reprise Gunner Jensen and Toll Road, respectively. Statham returns as Lee Christmas.

Expendables fans may expect three new characters played by Power’s 50 Cent, Transformers’ Megan Fox, and Furious 7’s Tony Jaa, however Arnold Schwarzenegger may not return as Trent ‘Trench’ Mauser.

The newest casting update led Millennium Films CEO Jeffrey Greenstein to promise a “star-studded, action-packed” Expendables film.

“To keep it fresh and fun, we’ve added exciting new stars to join the veterans,” he said. “Popcorn entertainment is guaranteed.”

The Hollywood Reporter teases that Statham will replace Stallone as the lead in Expendables 4, saying, “Sources say in this outing Statham will be the one with the biggest gun.”
