Will Smith’s Thank You to Jackie Chan on Will Smith’s 70th Birthday for ‘Eternal Impact’ on His Family

Will Smith thanks Jackie Chan on his 70th birthday.

On April 7, the Oscar winner honored Chan for his “eternal impact” on the Smith family in a poignant Instagram post. Smith’s youngest son Jaden, 25, starred with Chan in The Karate Kid remake in 2010.

Wow, Happy 70th Birthday, My Guy @jackiechan! Besides making some of my favorite movies and some of the craziest scenes ever documented on film, I appreciate you most for helping me raise Jaden “Will, 55, captioned photographs of Jaden with Chan.

“Our time with you in Beijing during Karate Kid changed our family forever. We wish you love and revelation on your new journey ️ “said.

Will posted many touching photos of himself, Chan, and Jaden on the film set, including one of them holding Jaden in Beijing.

Chan, who will star with Ralph Macchio in the forthcoming Karate Kid film, told George Lopez in 2010 that Will “called my office” to propose the 2010 blockbuster. IMDB estimates the picture grossed $359 million worldwide, produced by Will and Jada Pinkett Smith.

“I said ‘OK! Who teaches?” Chan giggled at Will’s call. “I thought, ‘I’m the karate kid!'”

“I already forget my age,” he said. I still think I’m young. ‘No, you’re the teacher. “My son will be Karate Kid.”

Chan sent a poignant Instagram post on his 70th birthday, thanking for being “able to grow old” despite his many pranks.

In a description for the picture, which contained various photos of Chan over the years, the actor said many of his friends have been reminding him of his 70th birthday.

“Every time I heard this number, my heart stоpped—I’m 70?” Chan began a lоng captiоn. “After recоvering frоm the shоck, my big brоther Sammо Hung оnce said, ‘Being able tо grоw оld is a fоrtunate thing.’” Stunt peоple dоn’t realize hоw lucky they are tо age.

Chan said that recent photographs of him with “white hair, white beard and [looking] old” are for a role and that he’s “always been willing to try new things for a movie, no matter if it’s a challenging stunt or a breakthrough appearance for a character.”

Chan explained on his page: “Looking at these photos brings back so many fond memories. Love you all and love making movies. I appreciate all the birthday greetings. Keep everyone happy and healthy!”
