In the first quarter of the Chosen1 Invitational versus Coronado (Las Vegas), Bryce replaced Sierra Canyon (Chatsworth, California) in front of his father and family at the court.
Five months prior, Bronny, Bryce’s older brother, had returned to playing basketball on the same court after suffering a myocardial infarction. Bronny was traveling with his team on Sunday afternoon, so he was unable to see his brother play after making his USC debut versus Auburn.
With a 59-point victory, the Sierra Canyon team recently extended their reign of terror. They got off to an early lead and won 83–55 on Saturday night against Coronado. In twenty-one minutes of play, 6-4 shooting guard Bryce James scored eight points (two from beyond the arc), disheveled three assists, and had a 45% field goal percentage.
The Sierra Canyon lead at halftime, 46–18, turned out to be the game-changer. Junior wing player Bryce Cofield led the squad in scoring with 21 points, 8 rebounds, and 7 assists. Sierra Canyon’s record has increased to 10-1 thanks to their amazing performance. Burroughs High School will be their next opponent in the Santa Barbara Tournament.
Like his brother Bronny, Bryce James has been keeping a quiet profile during the recruiting process. He has paid unofficial visits to USC and Ohio State in the past. In particular, his skill at jump shooting and his precise touch around the basket are drawing attention from recruiters and colleges.
