SZA’s dreamy new song video suggests that she might kill an ex and is thinking about her good days.
The 33-year-old singer released the music video for her SOS single “Snooze” on Friday, following a tease earlier in the week.
The R&B singer falls in and out of love with a number of romantic partners in the bizarre video, which was directed by Bradley J. Calder and co-written by Calder and SZA (real name Solána Rowe). These partners include Justin Bieber, producer and collaborator with SZA Benny Blanco, as well as actors Young Mazino and Woody McClain.
The dreamy music video for the romantic R&B song features people in different relationships while they’re still in their honeymoon stage—from Blanco, 35, licking French fries off her body, to Bieber, 29, lying in bed. The “Kill Bill” singer is shown complaining with each man over either neglecting her or their transgressions as the different flings quickly turn sour.
The Grammy winner continues to sing the private verses, “I can’t lose when I’m with you / How can I snooze and miss the moment? /” before the video takes a sci-fi turn. You are far too significant / No one has the body that you have.”
A gorgeous video of SZA and her partner in the golden hour with an unreleased song playing comes after “Snooze.” She sings in the song, which was previously teased on her Instagram, “Diamond boy, why you so shiny?”
SZA’s SOS single “Kill Bill” reached its highest position on the Billboard Hot 100, but since the album’s late 2022 release, “Snooze” has been progressively rising in the rankings.
This is the first collaboration between SZA and Bieber on “Snooze.” Even though they haven’t worked together on a song, Hailey Baldwin Bieber, the husband of “Love Yourself” artist Justin Bieber, and he are big admirers. In March, the duo went to her SOS Tour.
September marks the return of the “Drew Barrymore” singer’s tour dates. She will travel North America during the fall after taking her act to Europe and the United Kingdom following the first leg of the SOS travel.
Her most recent appearance was on Travis Scott’s brand-new album, Utopia. The 32-year-old Scott was featured on her last album, and she collaborated with Future on the Utopia song “TELEKINESIS.”
SZA discussed her career status and how she is “coming to terms with all the different parts of” who she is in an interview with PEOPLE following the release of SOS.
The singer admitted, “Right now, I’m just entering my era where I am accepting that I might be a bitch, and that’s OK.” “I’m fine with being the antagonist as well. I’m fine with expressing my opinions and being the person God made me to be.”
